In late 1999 I bought the best digital camera available. It was a 2 megapixel camera, exactly what my cell phone has today, 2006. But just then it was considered very high tech and everywhere I went people wanted to see it--most of them had never seen a digital camera before.

A few weeks after I bought my camera, in early 2000 I had the pleasure to spend a month in Burma (click here for a map). Three weeks of that time were spent in a monastery near Mandalay.
