Handmade cloth, the famous Cambodian all-purpose scarf, the kama,
is for sale along with everything else in the sprawling market. I once heard
a lecture on Cambodian culture by a Cambodian intellectual. He described
the kama this way, "We can use it as a scarf, a hat, a sunshade,
as a cradle to rock the baby in, and, if we get depressed, we can hang ourselves
with it."
