Mount Kailash / 059 From the bottom of the pass and for the next three hours or so, pilgrims walk along a stream. The trick is knowing where to cross the stream. To make sure that I crossed the steam at the right place, I followed these two man for about two hours. Although they both carried 20 or so kilos of rice, and wore tennis shoes, they kept a terrific pace and occasionally sang. At the one rest-stop that we shared together, I gave them the candy bars that they are now eating. Just before I took this picture the man on the left had taken out a small mirror, a comb, and some hair cream from his shoulder bag, and proceeded to make himself look presentable. An excellent idea -- you never know who you'll meet when you're on the trail.
