Lhasa / 006 After the Buddha achieved his enlightenment he went to Sarnath where his old friends, five ascetics, were sitting in a forest with deer in it. When he spoke to his friends he outlined the eight-fold path and thus started turning the wheel of the dharma. Hence this symbol, which is on top of many Buddhist temples, in this case, the Jokhang.
